Areas of Expertise

HUMANITARIAN SECTOR

Duthie Translations provides ongoing translation work for several humanitarian agencies, including Sphere, Livestock Emergency Guidelines and Standards (LEGS), Standards for Supporting Agricultural Livelihoods in Emergencies (SEADS), Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS), the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC), and Women Deliver and the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders. Imogen has also carried out work for the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) on the subject of refugee law, and for freelance humanitarian consultants working for the Red Cross, Medécins sans Frontières, and different agencies connected to the UN. She is very familiar with humanitarian standards, their terminology and structuring, and how they relate to one another.

ACADEMIC PAPERS AND ARTICLES

Throughout the years, Duthie Translations has provided translations to a wide range of academics, mostly in the field of humanities. We have translated papers on History, Archaeology, Psychology, Sociology, Literature, Philosophy and Linguistics.

Publishing papers is a delicate and often lengthy task, and we make sure we communicate with our clients regularly throughout the process, to ensure that any ambiguities are avoided, and any nuances contained in the original are accurately reflected in the translation.

CREATIVE & lITERARY

We have translated art books, city guidebooks with a twist, slogans, creative copy, and baby books.

We relish the challenge offered by this kind of text, and work closely with clients to ensure that the translation is not only an accurate reflection of the original, but also manages to evoke the same feel as the source language, which is just as crucial.

Imogen’s creative personal project, Portrait of a Plaything, is also part of ongoing translation work, as it is created both in English and in Spanish.
